Performance Poetry

Class 4 English lesson                           By Abigail and Isobel 

We have been reading Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael  Morpurgo. Today, in our English lesson,  we listened to some sounds of the sea in a storm. Whilst we listened to this,  we wrote down how  Michael, the main character in the book, felt in the storm and words he may have used to describe it. We used words such as: mesmerising, dominant, endless and devilish.

Next, we looked at a poem called ‘’The Sea’’ by James Reeves. We evaluated it against different imaginative devices, for example, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia, similes and alliteration.

Finally, we had to rehearse the poem for a class performance, adding sound effects (body percussion) and actions.
