Tangram Puzzles
This week, Class 2 created tangram puzzles. The tangram puzzle is made up of seven geometric pieces, which are typically boxed in the shape of a square. The pieces, called 'tans', are used to create different patterns, such as animals, people, numbers, and geometric shapes.
Creating tangram puzzles allowed Class 2 to develop their learning across two of the topics we are studying this half-term: art from other cultures, and China (our focus area for geography).
As the tangram puzzle is an ancient Chinese art, creating the puzzles enabled Class 2 to learn more about different artistic styles and practices as well as the values and traditions of the Chinese culture. The lesson also allowed the children to use their own imaginations and develop their own creativity.
