Homework Heroes - Spring 1 - Week 5

This week Class 4 were set the challenge of writing a story for BBC Radio 2's 500 word story competition.

The aim of the competition is to to get children excited about reading and writing and to put pen to paper to write a story in no more than 500 words.

Class 4 were ready to face this challenge and have come armed with a huge variety of exciting, mysterious, spooky and generally

'out of this world' stories.

This week it has been impossible to select just one winner (we will leave that up to the Judges of the competition and have our fingers crossed that it might be one of us!)

This week I have to give homework heroes to every single pupil in Class 4. i am very proud of the way you have approached this piece of work and how you have showcased many of your amazing ideas in your stories! Well done.

Here is a teaser of some of the story openings! I am sure they will have you hooked!

This is the story of how I learned to master my chakra,  so here we have it.

I became an orphan soon after my birth in the city of the earth. My parents died when I was a baby  in a apocalyptic war against the ruthless, despicable aliens called Tarmers, they came from the sky in outstandingly huge clusters - we were not prepared! Many died in the war but once the quarrel ended and we destroyed the source that had been creating them, the resulting blast emerging from the source engulfed the land.

A holiday on a train

“Are we nearly there yet?” Whined Jody. “Stop asking,” Jody’s mum was getting irritated. “We get there when we get there.”

“But?”

“Shhh!”

They were driving to Devon to celebrate mums birthday, the family had been looking forward to this trip for 5 months. Finally, when they got there Matt saw the sea first and started singing, “I can see the sea side” and he was trying to sing as loud as he could.

Early the next morning, with Matt waking up first, they marched down to the beach. After an hour of playing in the sand and the sea Jody and Matt had nothing to do so they decided to go investigate the forest that surrounded the beach. Shortly after they heard a rustling in a bush. It came closer. And closer. Until. “Roar!”

“Hi my name is Tegan, and this my story about my Life!  I don’t usually fit in at school or home I guess! It all started yesterday when I was walking my dog Dotty, and I bumped it to an old friend called Scarlett, but there was something different about her she seemed different very different!”

The Man in Black

At approximately 11:30pm, one dark night, at the centre of Sheffield’s industrial zone, Dr Sam Wilson, a world renowned robotics scientist was working in his office; a disused toy factory that had been run down for decades. It had a rosewood desk in the corner and shabby paintings of animals hung on the walls, which were covered with peeling, blue wallpaper. With his wife, Mrs Wilson, he was creating an advanced robot to help police in the fight against crime. Suddenly the door handle creaked; a menacing figure burst in, a thick black cloak hung around his neck and a gruesome mask covered the scarred cheeks below. In the blink of an eye his hand reached towards his belt, a flash of silver lit the room.
