Seashells

Today we have been learning all about seashells. We have learnt that they are hard, protective layers created by animals that live in the sea. Shells are part of some sea creature’s bodies and they are found on beaches and in the sea.

We looked at lots of different shells and noticed that they all look and feel different. Some are a spiral shape, some are long and thin, some are sharp and some are made of two halves. They come in all shapes, sizes and colours.

After learning about some of the different animals that live inside shells, we created some shell artwork. We split an A4 piece of paper into 6 equal boxes and chose a shell to focus on. We drew the shell in the top left hand box and then used the other boxes to show the shells patterns, lines, colours and texture.
